New England Patriots lose Super Bowl XLII in Arizona.
February 3, 2008
Patriots lose to the New York Giants 17-14 at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, when the Giants score a last-minute touchdown after receiver David Tyree keeps their drive alive by making a one-handed catch and pinning the ball against his helmet. The loss prevents the Patriots from becoming only the second team in National Football League history to complete an unbeaten season and the game attracts the largest television audience in U.S. history.
